MEET THE TEAM
Peter May Driver

Pete designs and builds everything that SKAILL joinery does, with precision and an experienced, artistic eye. If you see our van about, Pete will be the guy behind the wheel and despite at first glance seeming like a bit of a grumpy b*st*rd, always appreciates a cheery wave/hand gesture of choice.
Vashti May Driver

Vashti is the chief organiser at SKAILL joinery, she handles all the social media, answers the phone with nimble professionalism, keeps the accounts, and all of this whilst wrangling two small children and keeping Pete in line.

I’ve been making and creating for as long as I can remember.
I was born and brought up “off grid” on a small farm in Orkney, a group of weather-beaten islands off the northern coast of Scotland.
No electricity, no TV, no internet.
Such an unusual upbringing encouraged the practical and creative skills required to survive this harsh environment.
As I grew, so did my fascination with how things worked. I’m told that this started in earnest when at the age of three I took apart a fellow toddler’s pram.
I have stayed curious.
Peter has been working as a full time joiner since 2013, though much experience has been gained during formative years of practical and experimental work which created the ethos of Skaill Joinery – all work should be carried out with great attention to detail, pride in craftsmanship and in a manner which wastes as few resources as possible.
