“Making things out of stuff” since 1985

Peter May Driver has been working as a joiner since 2013, though much experience was gained during formative years of practical and experimental work which created the ethos of Skaill Joinery. We believe all work should be carried out with great attention to detail, pride in craftsmanship and in a manner which wastes as few resources as possible.

“I’ve been making and creating for as long as I can remember.

I was born and brought up “off grid” on a small farm in Orkney, a group of weather-beaten islands off the northern coast of Scotland.

No electricity, no TV, no internet.

Such an unusual upbringing encouraged the practical and creative skills required to survive this harsh environment.

As I grew, so did my fascination with how things worked.  I’m told that this started in earnest when at the age of three I took apart a fellow toddler’s pram.

I have stayed curious.”
